The farthest reaching Sony E-mount lens yet, the FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS Lens is the E-mount lineup’s distance-dominating option for capturing wildlife, nature, and sports. Not only is this the first Alpha zoom to reach 800mm, but its compatibility with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters extends the maximum focal length to 1120mm and 1600mm respectively. The high quality of the lens is a testament to the collapsing distance between G and GM series lenses, outshining both the 200-600mm G and the 100-400 GM options in optical complexity and sheer focal length. Of course, it’s bigger and heavier than those lenses, too.
