The QLB-50 Quick Release Clamp by FLM is an open channel Arca-style lever clamp that allows for different size quick release plates. It has a safety pin so that plates will not slide out of the clamp when it is loose. Built-in bubble levels helps align your camera vertically and horizontally. The easiest and quickest solution for locking camera plates securely in place with a new lever-actuated system. One jaw is adjustable to accommodate various Arca plate sizes, then the lever can be opened and closed quickly. A locking pin ensures that the QR plate cannot slip out of the base when opened. This base is additionally equipped with a bubble level to facilitate horizontal alignment of the camera. Really impressive.
I bought this as an occassional use item instead of another RRS clamp. I have 4 of them, they work well, but the price is is well... So I thought I would give this a shot. The quality is excellant, the function is excellant and the adjustment feature works easily and is a bonus. If you look at the patent information on the original Arca Swiss plate you will discover that you can have two plates one of which is tight and other loose in the same clamp and both are in spec. I will be buying more of the FLM clamps.
Great upgrade for CB-32F mk II
I was worried about the size for the travel tripod FLM offers, as the twist knob on the original clamp would hit the legs or bubble level on the ballhead for certain cameras I use in the 90 degree recess. Not only did this clamp speed up my setup time for multiple camera setups, but it also has better clearance than the original clamp that came with the travel tripod. Only downsides I've found is there's no way to lock the position for travel (if you only use one plate, L-bracket, etc.). You'll have to clamp your gear and just double check with the knob you're fully locked in. If you have multiple plates and such, you'll have to do this anyway due to tiny differences in their machining. The other downside is the install. I've made a video for this, but the threaded stud has no flathead, allen, or any other head to assist in removal from the old clamp. There's a hole looking directly at the stud, so a machined, recessed torx/allen head would make this job easier.
